How can I apply for a tourist visa for Dubai with Emirates Airlines?

I want to visit a male friend of mine in Dubai and was looking to buy a tickets with Emirates so they can sponsor my visit. I am a female EU citizen, living in the UK. My question is weather I have to send proof of a booked hotel when making the application for visa with Emirates
