Which is better Shaving Oil or Shaving Gel or Foam?

Out of shave cream had to use my husbands shave stuff that comes like a bar of soap you put it in a cup mix with a small bit of water and lather it up with a brush. It leaves your skin SO soft if you want to go through all the trouble.
