I'm wondering whether HDMI cables are different around the world.

I'm asking this because recently I bought a 3D TV convertor box from China (ok I know a bit of a dumb thing to do seeing as it probably wasn't going to work anyway!)

I've tried it on 2 TV's and a projector and not one of them is producing any type of response.

One TV is getting the auto-change over signal to turn to the box, but absolutely no picture at all.

The box is plugged in with the mains adapter provided, and the HDMI cables I'm using are full wired gold plated.

I've checked everything tried all the cables and they all work fine, swapped cables, swapped devices, tried with 3 different TV's as output, and PS3, PC and Sky Box as input, tried the cables the other way around just in case in is out and out is in, tried different modes and nothing from the box.

I remember my friend had a HDMI cable he bought whilst he was on a cruise for his camera and he found that worked fine over there but when he tried using it on the UK system it just wouldn't work at all. So I'm wondering do Asian countries use a different wiring in HDMI to us or is it the box that is faulty?

Also my TV is a UK TV but it is fully compatible with NTSC/SECAM 60hz/50hz etc so it can't be incompatibility on TV formats.
