I am trying to install a ceiling fan. While screwing the ceiling plate into the joist, I broke out a jagged chunk of the drywall ceiling (about a 4" by 6" section). Now the ceiling plate won't sit flush with this chunk missing. That edge of the ceiling plate rides up in the hole, which will lead to a wobble if I continue with the install. How do I repair a tiny section of the drywall ceiling so that the diamater of the hole is smaller and the ceiling plate will sit flush again?
